- Kaska- How to make a dead language come alive.
Bruce McKay has added a photo to the pool:
Incentive sweaters that the students will use for sports and field trips. Kaska is a dead language in all practical terms and it was devestated by the building of the Alaska Highway. We focus on bring more of the language into everyday use... e.g. sharing feelings in Kaska in sharing circle. Our school name is Kaska for Good Man (dene -man tia-good) Ts'asno is Kaska for Hornets (yellowjackets). The students had to complete a language booklet to be able to wear these in school time.

Today I reached a milestone and wanted to share a memory of one of the first images I uploaded onto Flickr. This was a lake in northern Alberta where I took the students of my P.A.C.E.S. class (ALT. ED.) to hunt moose with Cree Elders in a week long culture camp. In between the two moose we got I was able to play with rainbow and brown brook trout. For more info on PACES got to www.denetia.wikispaces.com.
The last 100,000 only took six months which blows me away so here is to the next year of sharing my world with friends.
Thank you for your views, comments and friendships. You have helped me grow as a photographer and helped me through difficult times this year. I cherish all of you.- Ingostadt-Dr.Frank
