In your portfolio in a section marked Unit 2 you should have:
- All your notes and hand outs from sessions 7-11

Health and Safety Policies
- brief notes on your school's Health and Safety guideline and show how these relate to the laws.
The notes may either be bullet points or a mind map
- notes on two occasions in school when actions have, or might have, been taken based on the Health and Safety policy.
(Occasions could include: playground or classroom incidents, lunch/cafeteria hall, assemblies, school trips, actions following breaking of school rules relating to Health and Safety etc.)
- 3 reasons why it is important to allow children to sometimes take risks and explanation of how we can help them to do this in a safe environment.
Use examples from your own experience where possible.

Simple Risk Assessments
These:
- 1. Identify together possible areas of risk
- 2. State what the risk is
- 3. Explain briefly how this risk may be safely handled
- Filled in form for at least 3 settings from the risk assessment section. (risk assessment form)
- Research and notes on school policies on intruders and/or visitors
- Your school's fire drill procedures and make notes on it.
- First Aid boxes marked on a diagram/plan.

Illness and Emergencies
- School policy on contacting parents in cases of illness or emergencies and notes explaining them.
- Try to get examples of any forms to be sent home e.g after a head bump
- List of medicines children might need to bring into school and why. How your school deals with this - notes.
- Write about an occasion when you have dealt with and ill or injured child in school.
Explain what you did and why you did it. If you have never done this choose one from the list from the lesson and explain what you would do and why. (300 words approx)

- Fire Safety Equipment notes or a mind map.
