An Activity Plan
This is a major homework activity and will form part of your coursework for this unit. You can find ideas for suitable activities in books, online, by looking at what is available in the classroom, talking to the other teaching assistants in the school.
Stage One
Plan a short activity to use with a child or group of children in your placement setting.
Use the table provided to help you organise your ideas Learning Activity Table
You should plan this activity to meet aims and learning objectives set by your teacher. You need to briefly talk to your teacher about this in advance. The activity should not involve any extra work for your teacher and should be designed by you to support the learning of the child/children you are working with.
Bring your rough plans with you to next week's session
Stage Two
- Actually do the activity with the children.
Make notes in your learning journal about what you observed.
Then write:
- A brief description of what actually happened
Stage Three
Evaluate the activity
This should include:
- Suggested improvements to the activity
- Learning outcomes met by the pupils
- Incidental learning outcomes met by the pupils
Tips
- If you have access to a camera you can include photos
- Include copies of any worksheets used
- Include photocopies of any text book pages used
- Make a note of and include the source (including web addresses) of any ideas used in your planning.
Deadline
- This work should be completed and handed in by Tuesday May 20th.
I will be available during the last hour of next week's session for individual questions and by e-mail as usual.
