Individual talks evaluating own practice in relation to use of resources for activities

The three remaining 5 minute timed talks to be delivered. These will be graded.

Reminder

Grading will be based on your coverage of the following points:

  • Explain what, where, and when in the first minute. I will time you :-)
  • Explain why the resource was used ("I do not know" is not an acceptable explanation.)
  • Evaluate your use of the resource, did it go well? Did it go badly?
  • Offer some explanations as to why it worked or didn't.
  • How could you improve your your use of that resource next time?
  • What actions do you need to take for this to happen?

Grades and feedback for all talks will be next week

Reviewing An Activity Plan

10:25 - 10:50

Reminder:this is a major homework activity and will form part of your coursework for this unit. You can find ideas for suitable activities in books, online, by looking at what is available in the classroom, talking to the other teaching assistants in the school.

If you are still short of ideas have a look at some of the suggestions on the HLTA Blog where you will find dozens of ideas and resources. If you have no internet access try your local library or have a good look around your classroom to find suitable activities. Ask other TAs for ideas.

Stage One

Plan a short activity to use with a child or group of children in your placement setting.

You should plan this activity to meet aims and learning objectives set by your teacher. You need to briefly talk to your teacher about this in advance. The activity should not involve any extra work for your teacher and should be designed by you to support the learning of the child/children you are working with.
