Hi,

I'm Linda Hartley and I am the tutor for this NCFE2 Teaching Assistants Certificate. First I'd like to thank you for all the support and help the students have be given since November. I realise that schools are busy places and your patience is appreciated.

This Unit is about supporting pupils' learning.During the coming half term students will be given specific tasks related to the topic. It would be very helpful if they could be given some access to planning, learning objectives, group and individual targets. It would also be very useful if you could start to get them involved in helping with displays and the preparation of activities.(I realise this may not be possible in some settings)

Student Optional Units

Students have been asked to think about their choice of optional units. They can either focus on:

  • Literacy and Numeracy

or

  • SEN and Behaviour Management

I'm sure they would value your help in considering their options. Just to reassure you, all topics will be covered on the course - the student simply chooses one to use for their assignments.

Tutor Visits

During the next half term I will be visiting the students to observe them in class, with groups and perhaps, with individuals. I will give you lots of warning and am happy to be flexible about dates. It would be great if you, and perhaps any other TAs in the class, had time for a chat either before or after the visit. Again I can be flexible about the timing of this.

If you have any queries about the visit or anything else please don't hesitate to contact me. I can be reached at Linda.Hartley@gmail.com
