CRB Checks and Placements
You need to find a placement in a school and get your CRB check before you can do Level 2.
- Use the time while you are doing the Level 1 (our) course
- Get your Level 2 Numeracy & Literacy if you haven't already,
- Find a school that will accept you and get checked.
This is not a quick process and getting your CRB takes weeks.
It can be hard to find schools as there is a lot of competition for placements.
You can start off by doing just a few hours a week, maybe just helping, hearing readers, whatever the teacher needs.
When you have completed this course and have Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy,
- Increase your hours in school to 12 hours a week
- Apply for the NVQ2 Supporting Teaching and Learning.
Any time you can spend in school before that will add to your experience and make the NVQ2 easier.
The CRB check:
- Done through the school
- You will have to pay for it yourself.
- Only valid for specific placements
- When you change schools you usually have to get a new one done.
- You will be sent a copy of the form and so will the school.
