The record book

Create an observation booklet for each child using this template. These are really meant for the adult partner's notes rather than for formal record keeping. Use them to keep track of the child's successes so that you can give specific praise, for taking the weekly running record and for keeping track of how many sessions the child has actually attended. There is space for Salford Reading Test results before and after on the front cover. This does not really give an accurate picture of increases in the child's reading age as there should really be a six month gap when using Salford. It does give some indication of progress and can be useful for giving some indication of the overall impact of the scheme within the school.
