Mamma Mia the Stage Show

The stage show version of Mamma Mia is not based on the story from the songs, nor is it a juke box musical or tribute show exactly, it’s an original romantic comedy story which cleverly weaves 22 of the famous Abba hits into the plot as the narrative unfolds.
Catherine Johnson wrote the book, the stage play script and it’s the same story in the film too. The cleverest part is the way this musical turns into a game in which the audience can’t help trying to guess which famous Abba song is coming next, as the plot sneaks up on and finally reveals one of the best known anthems. Are you ready to play the Mamma Mia game live in the theatre?

Marguerite with Andrew C Wadsworth. March 13, 2008
Posted by Linda in : Musicals, marguerite , 2commentsTwo of our readers are very excited about Marguerite the musical ![]()
1. Louise on March 12th, commenting on my post about Marguerite said:
This is also starring the fantastic Andrew C Wadsworth.
And only a few minutes later Nora piped up:
I know I’m so excited I think he is amazing!
Personally I prefer Alexander Hanson, who is playing Otto but they are all good. There’s quite a buzz working up for this show. I hope it lives up to it!
Update:
I made a bit of a hash of the next bit of this post and mixed Andrew up with, er, someone totally different! He was in Peak Practice but just the one episode, and it wasn’t any of these

The Story of Jersey Boys
The story is a really engaging, classic rags to riches, tale of four, undeniably cute young men who can sing. Set in New Jersey in the early 60s it tells how the boys found fame and fortune and what they lost and gained along the way. Frankie Valley and the Four Seasons may not ring bells at once for the younger UK musical fans. They might recognise some of the songs though:
There’s a bit of an early 60s revival going on in the UK music scene at the moment so the show might just hit a nerve with a younger audience.
Jersey Boys is Already a Broadway Hit
Like so many current West End musicals Jersey Boys comes to London as an already proven hit. It won Best Musical at the 2007 TONYS. Have a look at this - I think Jersey Boys could be a great ‘feel good’ evening out!
