Mel B in Legally Blonde? June 14, 2008

Mel B in Legally Blonde? legallyblondeLegally Blonde the musical is due to open ’somewhere’ in the West End in 2009 and possibly with Mel B playing Paulette. I’m struggling to imagine Scary Spice in the role and it’s not at all clear if she will be in the show or not. There’s nothing on the official web site yet - just a holding page. However according to one source her publicity people have said:

“She has in fact been offered the part of Paulette in the London West End production. The offer has been extended by James Hopson of Pippa Ailion Casting. James (on behalf of the producers) has pursued her over the past 2 months to the degree that they are now flying Melanie out to NY to see the Broadway production this weekend. I can assure you it’s an expensive trip as it involves Melanie and her family, so they are deadly serious about this.”

Paulette

In case you haven’t seen the film, Paulette is the beautician responsible for the transformation of Elle into a brunette and a major character in the show.

Piccadilly Theatre?

It seems likely Legally Blonde will follow Grease into the Piccadilly Theatre when/if it closes in January 2009.

are their not any open auditions for the public then to be one of the characters..
maybe they could do something like they have for joseph, nancy, danny and sandy.
i think by having public envolvements, its a show people can get involved with choosing their favourite and changing their life.

they should NOT have tv auditions, they are not a fair way of chosing the lead roles..

i agree that there should not be t.v. auditions for any rolls. its ok for the general public to sit at home and think its good t.v to watch people fighting to win a part week after week. im not saying it is wrong but when do they ever think of the people who have paid tousands ( £30k at some good schools) to train in musical theatre to be in this line of work . they dont. for people who dont no it is very difficult to get a job working in theatre as there is so many people out there that are trained and when we dont have a job we have no money and there is not many jobs that pay good money so you can afford to keep living in london as this is where EVERY audition is held. if people had the passion they say they have for theatre why did they not go and train like everyone eld and if your good you will get a good agent who can get you seen for auditions. so infuture please stick to eastenders and let us actors get on with our work
