The London fringe theatre scene is alive and well with short runs and new plays showing all over the Greater London area. From local town theatre in the suburbs to theatre pubs in Islington ther are plenty of alternatives to the big West End extravaganzas.
Here’s a good review of a new play showing at the White Bear Theatre, in South London ( 138 Kennington Park Road, London SE11 4DJ (nearest tube: Kennington) for which tickets are only £12.

Under the Eagle, a new play from author, script writer and former Doctor Who script editor Andrew Cartmel has just begun a three week run at the White Bear Theatre, London.
A fast moving and provocative drama admirably mixing sharp humour with taught dramatic moments verging on the tragic as a stand up comedian is litrally dragged screaming into the very hub of the secret world of high diplomacy. Exploring the “Special Relationship” between two nations devided by a common language, “Extraordinary Rendition”, “Space defense shields” and “inteligent design” - all feature in this timely drama which acutely explores the drama and brinkmanship of a private summit between the most powerful people on the planet. There were times when my blood ran cold and others when the audience fell about laughing…. a very rewarding evenings entertainment leaving you with much to about think and discuss at the end (especially considering the headlines this week). A very well balanced play in all ways very intelligently performed by a talented cast. VERY Highly recommended……
