Come Dancing UK Tour Announced

Ray Davies’ wonderful musical Come Dancing, which we loved so much we saw it twice at Stratford last year, has just announced a UK tour! The tour starts in January at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley, Kent from from Thursday 21 January 2010 to Saturday 30 January 2010 and tickets are already on sale.

The cast is said to be substantially unchanged but there’s no sign of our favourite, Gemma Salter, on the introduction to the new, currently unfinished, Come Dancing web site. It will be a bit of a shame if she isn’t going to play the lead as she really made that part her own.

Meanwhile here’s the lovely Gemma Salter and the rest of the cast doing their thing at Statford East Theatre Royal last year:

Hopefully the UK tour will lead to a transfer to  the West End, where Come Dancing surely belongs.

  1. I hope as much of the original cast as possible returns to this amazing musical, they all did such a spectacular job last year at the Stratford Theatre in London…one favorite of mine though is the very talented Gemma Salter who played Julie, and also Stephan Lloyd who played Sid, hope to see them both in the show next year when it tours the UK and ends up on the West End and maybe and hopefully even someday in NYC, where the show belongs! – Frank Lima

  2. do hope that gemma salter who played julie is in cast as she was so made for the part it made it so real and endearing it would be a shame we came to see it three times and was looking forward to see it again not so sure will be as good if main characters not in it

  3. According to Katey Callaghan “The tour has been cancelled because Ray Davies has pulled out. and for all the Ray Davies fans- that is not a rumour it is a fact the tour is not going ahead because of Ray and not to do with ticket sales or anything else. x”

    Shame.

  4. Yes it is a shame, but Ray is should not be blamed. The whole concept and show is his baby, born in his mind, and he has worked a long time on this so don’t you think he is also upset?. Yes it might have been his deciision but I am sure that if it was there was a good reason for it. I’ve always believed, trusted and supported Ray and d he has never ever disappointed me yet, in fact the opposite is true. He has given me ” Day’s I’ll Remember all my life ” and I owe a lot to him. – Frank Lima, The Montvale (New Jersey) Hillbilly Boy

  5. I understand that Ray is coming to the Albert Hall in London – does this mean that the tour is back on again ?

My friends and I had booked to see him at the Churchill in Bromley but the tour was said to have been cancelled. We were very disappointed and hope that Ray will reconsider and we will all be able to support him again.
