Going up to London for a couple of nights out in the town is easy to organise and not terribly expensive if you take advantage of some of the great hotel and theatre deals currently available. Some people always book themselves up in advance anyway, but if you’re like me you might imagine that it’s possible to just roll up at a hotel reception room somewhere and casually ask “do you have any rooms for tonight please?”. Whilst this might work fine sometimes in rural Spain or even the less touristy parts of Paris, it’s likely to cost the equivalent of a fortnight’s holiday with full board in Ibitha if you try this in London! You will invariably be asked “Do you have a reservation?”.
Theatre Tickets
Similarly with theatre tickets, it’s well known that you can buy half price theatre tickets by queuing up patiently outside the booth in Leicester Square. These are only for a limited number of shows, many of them for matinee performances (where the cast is sometimes not the main headliners) and the half price is calculated from a maximum initial face value.
